The Washington Capitals are teaming up with the National Hockey League Oct. 24 through Nov. 18 to educate the hockey community about cancer through Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Month. Hockey Fights Cancer is a league-wide initiative founded by the NHL and NHL Players’ Association and is dedicated to raising awareness for national and local organizations involved in cancer care and research. The Capitals will host Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night supported by global sciences and technology company Leidos during the game against the Florida Panthers on Saturday, Nov. 5, with several initiatives surrounding the evening:
Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) Foundation is hosting an auction featuring Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys, sticks, pucks and hats. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Flashes of Hope, Hope for Henry, Make-A-Wish ® Mid-Atlantic and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
