National Hope for Henry Day – Hope for Henry Foundation

October 25 Proclaimed
National Hope for Henry Day

Honors Legacy of DC Hero Henry Strongin Goldberg

October 25 will forever be National Hope for Henry Day, honoring DC hero Henry Strongin Goldberg who died at age seven, but whose legacy has improved the lives of more than 45,000 sick children in America.

Henry’s courage and resilience in the face of serious illness and the boundaries of science his parents pushed to save him has been chronicled on the cover of the New York Times magazine, on ABC’s “Nightline,” “Good Morning America,” and in the memoir, “Saving Henry,” published by Hyperion in 2010, among many other outlets.

In his memory, Henry’s parents, Laurie Strongin and Allen Goldberg, founded Washington, DC-based Hope for Henry Foundation on October 25, 2003, on what would have been Henry’s 8th birthday. Since that time, Hope for Henry has reimagined how hospitals care for the sickest children through innovations including a state-of-the-art pediatric patient incentive program, year-round celebrations that provide entertaining distractions and foster healing, and activities that provide much-needed normalcy for hospitalized children like in-hospital birthday celebrations and comfy and cozy room décor to ease the transition from home to hospital.

There are so many ways to celebrate National Hope for Henry Day. Join us today!
